LRS Definition

The Learning Resource System includes all resources provided to our students at on campus physical locations as well as online resources accessible to all enrolled PCI students.

  • The On Campus LRS offers students private and group study space, reference books and periodicals for all campus locations, as well as computer stations to access all Online LRS materials.
  • The Online LRS offers online services via a website called “Pinnacle Online Library” and a leading Learning Management System (LMS) called Canvas.  PCI curates much of its own educational content as well that is digitally hosted within the online LMS.
    • The Pinnacle Online Library (https://pinnacleapps.com/library/) contains all current information students require concerning library resources, such as websites for research and personal interest evaluated by the PCI librarian, important web links such as an electronic catalog of all PCI library reference books and the LIRN (Library and Information Resources Network).  The LIRN is a virtual library of materials that will help students finish their program. The advantage of LIRN is that it is always available to PCI students. The databases are available online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so that students can work when it is convenient. PCI students may obtain the password required to access LIRN from any faculty, or from their online class homepage.  Helpful information can be gathered as well, such as assistance with writing research papers, citation help and other tutorials appropriate to study.
    • The LMS, Canvas is the platform that hosts all classroom information for programs offering flex education and online education at PCI.  Every assessed activity is listed and defined within a Canvas class homepage.  Specific resource required to complete assessed activities are also available within Canvas classes.
